Bill Orcutt to Play Ottawa

The former guitarist of Miami noise-rockers Harry Pussy, Bill Orcutt brings his tenacious and experimental/blues/folk instrumental guitar stylings to Ottawa on Monday, June 6th. A friend gave me a copy of his 2009 release "A New Way to Pay Old Debts" and I tell ya simply....."Holy shit" !! This dude plays a four string acoustic guitar with an over the edge rawness that blends the best John Fahey with Richard Bishop and confronts the grey matter with a noisy, jagged and bent approach to roots oriented music. What a great album. Go see Bill Orcutt at Raw Sugar on Somerset St. near Preston on Monday June 6th. Orcutt is in Ottawa only cuz he's playing the Suoni Festival in Montreal....be thankful !

Birdman Sound is pleased to announce in our 20th year as a retail establishment, and especially because it's Record Store Day, an intimate live in store performance by "the band whose name is a symbol" (TBWNIS) will take place. I was just informed that our stampers have arrived and our new LP will easily be ready for RSD, APRIL 16th !!! "TBWNIS Vs. The Purveyors Of Conspicuous Authenticity" (our best album to date) will be available (100 vinyl only LPs) @ Birdman Sound exclusively. A live instore set will commence at 3 PM.
